Branding with purpose for 8QH Ventures

Overview

8QH is an accelerator program with a clear vision. Their goal is to provide support for startups that are both profitable and provide positive social impact. They needed to stand out in a competitive market as more inclusive and less intimidating.

Concept

The 8QH branding is focused around the concept of idea-interchange, acceleration and inclusion. The fast forward logo concept is constructed using various chevron-like icons. The icon library is expanded upon in the broader application of the brand, visually representing intermingling of ideas.

Expanding on the brand mark I created a library of icons of varying degrees of abstraction. These were applied throughout the branding.

The main challenge in this project was to balance the multifaceted nature of the brand with its singular purpose as an accelerator programme. This meant striking a fine balance between representational and abstract visuals, but also ensuring it communicated clearly.

This took a lot of iteration working beyond the original scope to get the logo right. But once completed it was undoubtedly worth the extra work, as the brand now has all the assets it needs to grow.
